Sarah Hook Smuin

Sarah was born in England in 1816. When she was twenty-one years old she married Thomas Smuin on 9 July 1837 in Radley, Berkshire, England. They were the parents of six children; four girls and two boys.

Sarah’s children had all come to America before her and her husband. Sarah’s son sent her the money for them to come.

When she was fifty-two years old Sarah and her husband, Thomas, sailed from England, July 14, 1868, on the steamship “Colorado, taking just two weeks to reach New York. They came by railroad to Benton, Wyoming then joined the Molen Wagon Company and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on September 2, 1868.

The went to Kaysville to live with their daughter, Eliza Clark, where Sarah passed away on 11 August 1877, at the age of sixty-one.
